Next Cartoon Forum will take place in Hungary!

The long awaited news is now spread: next year all animation professionals will fly to the charming historic town of Sopron at the border of Hungary and Austria! This is the first time that Cartoon Forum will take place in a new country of the European Union. Tamás Fodor, Mayor of Sopron, announced this today during the last day of Cartoon Forum Rogaland.

It is in Sopron that the first gate in the iron curtain was opened, just two months before the opening of the Wall of Berlin. Sopron is a town of history, culture, landscape and nature.

The animation professionals attending the Cartoon Forum have voted this Friday 25 Sept. to recognize their peers' contribution to European animation over the past year. NRK (Norway), Cake Entertainment (UK) and Brown Bag Films (Ireland) are respectively Broadcaster, Investor/Distributor and Producer of the year. Congratulations!

Irish film director David O’Reilly takes the Cartoon d'Or Award

Irish-born German-based filmmaker David O’Reilly won the 2009 Cartoon d’Or Award last night for his contemporary short film “Please Say Something”. The Award Ceremony took place in Stavanger during the annual co-production event Cartoon Forum.
The other nominees are: “Aston’s Stones” (Uzi & Lotta Geffenblad), “Madagascar, carnet de voyage” (Bastien Dubois), “Party Animals” (Merwan Chabane) and “Wallace & Gromit: A Matter of Loaf and Death” (Nick Park).
