Tarzan Animated Movie

Disney's 37th full length animated feature film Tarzan was made on a budget of $150 million, making it the most expensive animated movie to date. It was the first Disney movie to open at number one since 1994's The Lion King and is considered to be Disney's last major animated hit prior to the studio's slump of the early 2000s. Capitalizing on the success, Disney released a direct to video sequel, Tarzan and Jane in 2002 and a direct to video midquel Tarzan II in 2005. The film also spawned a Broadway musical and the animated series The Legend of Tarzan, which aired on the Disney channel from September 2001 until February of 2003.
